Damion,

Sorry it took so long to respond to you. I've been on a business trip and completely absorbed by the project.

In answer to your suggestion, I have. I particularly like Rust. However, it has no real use for the kinds of software systems I design and build.

I long ago stopped looking at coding languages as an end in themselves. I am far more interested in the entire ecosystem that comes with the language. Modern software systems are rarely built from scratch. Within usability limits, general purpose languages like Java, with all their libraries of already-built code, are usually more economical to build with as long as you choose wisely.

Ecosystems like Jakarta EE provide much of the scaffolding for the kinds of applications I help build. It would be wasteful to reimplement that very useful functionality.
