When I was much, much younger, as a 1LT in the US Army, I had the very scary experience of commanding a riot-control platoon in Baltimore during the riots triggered by Martin Luther King's assassination.
Compared to that, my tour in the Mekong Delta on the Cambodian Border was a cakewalk.
There is a huge chasm between warfare and civil policing---which is reflected in the training and skills required. Only the truly clueless would suggest that using the military as (let's face it) political police is a good idea.
Of course, when it comes to the Constitution, the rule of law, and the military, Trump and his sycophants are truly clueless.
