You may call it a rant, but I find it insightful. I'm still coding and my developer career began in 1972, the same year C started development.
The history of software development (I call it software engineering, but most developers are definitely not engineers) is the history of finding better abstractions. As software moves out into the cloud, we have a crying need for some new and better abstractions. Part of what keeps me at it is the search for better abstractions. As you so insightfully pointed out, if AI can take over the boring stuff while we get to do the thinking part...
